Zimbabwe Poultry Association (ZPA) has reported that the quantity of poultry feed production fell by 30% to an average of 85,044 metric tonnes in the second quarter of the year. The figure however fared better as compared to other stockfeed production figures as poultry feeds accounted for 64% of all feeds produced by weight and 71% by monetary value.

The report also noted that on average the prices of feeds in the third quarter increased by 126% compared to second quarter prices.

Feedback from farmers shows that feed remains one of the greatest cost in poultry production which is threatening viability of a number of businesses across the country. Industry players have come up with training programs to equip farmers with feed formulation skills in order to cut on costs and improve business viability.
