MASVINGO – It was all smiles for women groups from all the 26 constituencies in Masvingo who received over 3,000 day-old chicks courtesy of The First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa’s women empowerment program.
The donation was the first batch of day-old chicks delivered and the First Lady promised to donate more chicks as part of ensuring women are financially empowered to fend for their families and contribute to the growth of the economy.
Women in marginalized areas usually suffer from exclusion from mainstream economic activity and the gesture by the First Lady will go a long way in uplifting livelihoods of these women and their families.
The empowerment program which will be spread across the country is a positive development for the poultry industry as demand for day-old chicks will increase and value chain players will also benefit.
