The Zimbabwe Free Range Poultry Association will be hosting a training workshop on egg handling and incubation. Over the years, quite a number of poultry farmers in Zimbabwe have been setting up hatcheries –  a privileged venture for a few large businesses back in the days.

If you have an interest in this area or need to expand your knowledge and share ideas with fellow chicken farmers, then this worshop is a must attend.

The course will help you:

  • know how to take care of your fertile eggs (from egg handling, storage and transportation)
  • understand the implications of actions and activities in the day-old chick production cycle
  • systematically troubleshoot and resolve hatchery disputes
  • understand reasons for having low hatching percentages
  • learn how to ensure all chicks are accounted for at the hatchery
  • know how to select a good hatchery
  • improve the viability of the hatchery business
  • know what records to keep in fertilised eggs and day-old chicks production
  • know the minimum expected government standards requirements for hatchery registration

Who do we expect to attend?

Hatchery owners, hatchery attendants, fertilised egg producers, those who send fertile eggs for incubation and those who buy day old chicks.
